Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the fatalities in the Jammu traffic tragedy and declared an ex-gratia of 2 lakh for each of the deceased’s next of kin and 50 thousand for those who suffered injuries.
On the national route between Jammu and Srinagar on Tuesday morning, a bus plunged into a narrow gorge, killing at least 10 people and injuring about 55 others.
“Expressing grief on the bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir, PM @narendramodi has announced an ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given ₹ 50,000,” PMO tweeted.
The event occurred near Jhajjar Kotli, which is around 15 kilometres from Katra in the Jammu district, while the bus was travelling from Amritsar to Katra, according to officials.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kohli of Jammu, all of the injured have been taken to a hospital and are receiving medical attention.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Manoj Sinha, the chief minister of Bihar, had previously sent their sympathies.
