Big Bastar Fraud: ‘Sunny Leone’ Beneficiary Of Chhattisgarh Scheme For Women

In a startling case of fraud involving Chhattisgarh’s government scheme for married women, a man reportedly created a fraudulent account under the name of actor Sunny Leone and had been collecting ₹1,000 monthly, meant for beneficiaries.

The Mahtari Vandan Yojana, introduced by the BJP government, provides ₹1,000 to married women each month. However, it has been discovered that one such account receiving payments was fraudulently opened in the name of Sunny Leone.

The accused, identified as Virendra Joshi, is now facing legal action, with authorities also investigating officials tasked with verifying the scheme’s beneficiaries. The incident came to light in Talur village, located in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region. District Collector Haris S has directed the Women and Child Development Department to conduct a thorough investigation, freeze the fraudulent account, and recover the funds. The case gained attention after media reports highlighted the irregularity.

This revelation has ignited a political dispute between the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress. State Congress chief Deepak Baij has claimed that over 50% of the scheme’s beneficiaries are fake, while Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao retorted that Congress is upset because the BJP government is now providing assistance that Congress failed to deliver during its tenure.
