On Sunday, a group of 6,491 people performed darshan at Amarnath sacred cave as the weather significantly improved.

Prior to this, officials announced that the annual Amarnath Yatra had resumed along the Pahalgam route due to improved weather.

The Yatra on the alternate path, Baltal, has not yet started again.

Since Friday, the Yatra has been postponed because of the poor weather in Jammu and Kashmir.

Since the Yatra’s start on July 1, at least 67,566 pilgrims have accessed the Amarnath cave sanctuary.

On July 5, both from the Baltal base camp and the Nunwan base camp, 18,354 pilgrims began their journey to the Amarnath cave shrine.

The number of those affected is as follows: “These include 12483 males, 5146 females, 457 children, 266 sadhus, and 2 sadhvis,” a government statement earlier this week stated.

The official spokesperson claims that state organisations and civil departments support pilgrims throughout their whole journey by providing all the necessities and amenities to devotees.

According to the statement, all camp amenities, including Langers, health centres, assistance from service providers like poniwallas, pithuwalas, and dandiwalas, sanitation, and many other services, are made available to yatris under the supervision of camp directors.

On August 31, 2023, the 62-day Shri Amarnath Yatra will come to an end.
