CONGRESS Meeting

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Saturday proceeded as planned. Glad that the party performed better than anticipated in the Lok Sabha elections, the CWC praised Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra without holding back. They also “unanimously” passed a resolution requesting that Rahul assume the role of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

There was a positive vibe in the CWC. The committee believed the election results had “infused new life” into the party and signified its “overall revival and rejuvenation,” despite the fact that the party was unable to achieve three digits. Although there were signs of recovery in several states, the party’s dismal performance in certain states, particularly Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, and party-ruled Himachal Pradesh, worried the leadership.

It was determined that Party President Kharge would form a committee to investigate the causes of the defeat in certain states and offer recommendations for correcting the deficiencies. Several of the state congress presidents may be replaced shortly, according to sources. At the meeting, as was to be expected, leader after leader asked Rahul to take the helm of the party in the Lok Sabha and assume the role of Leader of the Opposition, which would come after ten years.
