At the next Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government will employ artificial intelligence-based tools and technologies for crowd control.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has ordered the state police force to use technology for the major event.
The Chief Minister stated that since the event was anticipated to be of an unprecedented scale, setting a standard for convenience, cleanliness, and security was imperative.
India’s rich religious and cultural legacy and the outside world are connected through the Kumbh. At a meeting of senior officials at his home, he stated, “Therefore, it is necessary to ensure safety, convenience, and cleanliness at the event.”
Claiming that the mela will be a chance to strengthen the image of UP and India, the Chief Minister instructed officials to hire reputable organizations to plan the event and publicize it so that pilgrims and visitors from around the globe could attend and make history.
“The police department and other stakeholders must leverage the advantage of technology for effective crowd management to avert any untoward incident. A detailed action and contingency plan must be drawn up. AI-based equipment and techniques must be used to keep an eye on crowd density so that any possible clustering may be dispersed before the group upsets order in any pocket,” he said.
Declaring that the Ganga and Kalpvasis embodied the essence of the Maha Kumbh, the Chief Minister gave the go-ahead for officials to make sure the mela was planned with a green theme.
He added that the relevant departments needed to make sure the Ganga was clean from Bijnor to Ballia.
Attending officials stated that the 2025 Mela would take place on an area of 4000 hectares, in contrast to 2019 when the Kumbh was dispersed over 3200 hectares.
Additionally, the Chief Minister gave police instructions to train and acclimate staff to their mela duties.
He also looked over tourism department projects that were coming together in the wake of the mela. “They must be warm, soft-spoken, dignified, yet affirmative while dealing with pilgrims and visitors,” he claimed.
“The corridor connecting Akshay Vat, Saraswati Koop, and Patalpuri Temple should be completed at the earliest and help from the Indian Army unit in Prayagraj may be sought to accelerate the progress of the project,” the minister stated.
Additionally, he gave the organizers instructions to guarantee that sufficient preparations are made for VIP and VVIP guests from other countries.
For the convenience of the pilgrims, the Urban Development Department announced that more than 1.5 lakh restrooms would be built on the ground. They further stated that in order to guarantee that these restrooms continue to function, over 10,000 sanitation workers will be hired.
