At the Dubai airport, Mamata Banerjee meets the president of Sri Lanka.

At a meeting with Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday at the Dubai airport, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended an invitation to the state business conference in November.
Mamata Banerjee is visiting Dubai and Spain for a total of 12 days.

The chief minister claimed that Mr. Wickremesinghe called her to “join for some discussion” after spotting her in the airport lounge.

“His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe summoned me to participate for a chat after spotting me in the lounge at the Dubai International Airport. She wrote on X, now known as Twitter, “I have been humbled by his greetings and (have) invited him to the Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata in 2023.

Ms. Banerjee added that she had received an invitation to travel to the island nation from Mr. Wickremesinghe.

“HE the President of Sri Lanka graciously invited me to travel there. It was a pleasant exchange with significant consequences,” she continued.

Ms. Banerjee arrived in Dubai on Tuesday evening and was waiting to join her aircraft to Spain this morning.

The BGBS for this year is set for November 21–22.

On Tuesday morning, Ms. Banerjee departed for a trip to Dubai and Spain, where she will attend business summits aimed at luring capital to the region.
