“Checks Will Be Heightened”: IndiGo’s Advisory Ahead Of Independence Day

In preparation for India’s 77th Independence Day, IndiGo Airlines has announced increased security measures at airports. The airline advises passengers to allow extra time for security checks to ensure a smooth check-in process.

At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, non-scheduled flights will face restrictions on August 15. These restrictions will apply to both scheduled airlines and private jets, barring them from taking off or landing between 6 am and 10 am, and from 4 pm to 7 pm. The aim is to reduce air traffic and enhance security during peak Independence Day periods.

Scheduled flights will not be affected by these restrictions. The Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Army aviation helicopters will continue their operations as usual. Additionally, state-owned aircraft, helicopters carrying Governors or Chief Ministers, and flights for emergency medical evacuations or quick response missions will be exempt from these restrictions.
