What Autopsy Report Of Kolkata Doctor Says About Injuries She Suffered

The autopsy report of a trainee doctor who was raped and murdered while on duty at a Kolkata hospital last week has revealed the extent of her injuries. A copy of the report, obtained by NDTV, indicates that these injuries were inflicted prior to her death. According to the report, the doctor died from strangulation, and there is medical evidence confirming sexual assault.

The report refutes earlier claims that “150 gm/mg of semen” was found in the victim’s body, a point that was also included in a petition filed by her family in the high court. While it mentions the presence of a “white thick viscid fluid” in the body, the report does not specify what it was.

Additionally, the report records “151 gm” as the weight of the genitalia, noting that it is standard practice to document the weight of various body parts in post-mortem examinations. However, it does not mention any fractures.

The report lists multiple injuries across various parts of the body, including the head, cheeks, lips, nose, right jaw, chin, neck, left arm, left shoulder, left knee, ankle, and internal genitalia. It also notes hemorrhaging in the lungs and blood clots in other areas.

The doctor was discovered dead at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, an event that led to nationwide protests and strikes by medical professionals. A civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, was arrested by Kolkata Police the following day.

Three days later, the CBI took over the investigation as directed by the Calcutta High Court. The central agency has since been interrogating the medical college’s former principal, Sandip Ghosh, for four days.
