Levitating by Dua Lipa is the subject of yet another lawsuit.

The popular song “Levitating” by Dua Lipa has gotten her into more legal issues as she is now facing a second lawsuit after the first one was just dismissed. Bosko Kante, a musician, has launched a multimillion dollar copyright lawsuit in Los Angeles claiming that Dua Lipa and Warner Music Group improperly utilised a recording created with his talk box in remixes of the tune. The third time that “Levitating” has become the target of legal action.

The lawsuit refers to a verbal understanding that Bosko Kante and the song’s composers had, according to which his chat box recording could only be utilised in the original recording and not in any ensuing remixes. He is now suing for more than $20 million over claimed copyright violations involving a number of remixes, including one with The Blessed Madonna, the popular remix starring rapper DaBaby, and a Dua Lipa performance at the American Music Awards.

According to Billboard, Kante has attempted bringing up the matter with Dua Lipa and Warner Music Group, but neither party has responded. He allegedly “made many attempts to resolve this matter without resorting to litigation, but such efforts were unsuccessful, due to Defendants’ unwillingness to cooperate or accept responsibility for this blatant infringement of Plaintiff’s copyrights.”

The lawsuit asserts that “all three remixes sampled and sampled a greater amount of plaintiff’s work than that used in the original version.” “Defendants did not request or obtain any consent or authorization from Plaintiff for the use of the composition or sound recording of Plaintiff’s work.”

For those who are unfamiliar, a talk box is a device that enables artists to alter an instrument’s tone and add spoken sounds. He has helped Big Boi and Kanye West with their talk box appearances.

The melody of “Levitating” was alleged to have been taken from their less well-known 1979 song “Wiggle and Giggle All Night” and 1980 track “Don Diablo” in another 2022 article by the authors L Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer. Then, Dua’s legal team claimed that she had never heard of either song before writing “Levitating.”
