World Population Day

Ayushmann Khurrana was scheduled to receive a prestigious award from Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar at his alma mater, Panjab University, on Friday, but tragically, P. Khurrana, a well-known astrologer and the father of Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Aparshakti Khurrana passed away on that day.

Khurrana passed away with both of his brothers by his side. According to family members, Ayushman went to Chandigarh eager to receive the Kalagrihi award in front of his loved ones.

Close relatives claimed that Khurrana, who had recently celebrated his 72nd birthday, would likely make a full recovery. A few days after getting COVID-19, on May 13, he was brought to the hospital.

P Khurrana was a well-known columnist and the author of 34 books on astrology who was well-liked in the neighbourhood. Leading politicians, police officers, and bureaucrats were among his clients.

The family’s home in Sector 6 was the scene of a solemn gathering of family members and well-wishers who came to say goodbye to the astrologer.

Neighbour VK Sood, while expressing his condolences, shared, “It was an incredibly tragic moment for the family. Ayushman had arrived in Chandigarh to receive this well-deserved honour, but fate had other plans.” He continued, “A few days ago, Khurrana ji developed an infection in his lungs, which eventually led to his admission in the ICU.”

Fortis Hospital Mohali released a statement expressing their condolences: “PK Khurrana was admitted to Fortis Hospital Mohali on May 13th due to respiratory failure. Despite our best efforts, his condition deteriorated, resulting in his untimely demise on the morning of May 19th. The entire staff of Fortis Hospital Mohali deeply mourns his loss.”

For the Khurrana family, the cremation ceremony at the Manimajra cremation yard signaled the end of an era.

Ayushmann had previously purchased a residence in Panchkula.
