Jailed Hemant Soren, Surrounded By Cops, Arrives For Jharkhand Trust Vote

World Population Day

Hemant Soren, the former chief minister of Jharkhand, entered the assembly today under heavy security as Champai Soren was up for a vote on trust.
Hemant Soren, who also serves as the Executive President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was granted permission by a special court in Ranchi to participate in the trust vote, which serves as a benchmark for the government led by Champai Sore.

In his court appearance, Mr. Soren argued that, as an assembly member, he is entitled to take part in the special session, which is important for his party.

One day after Hemant Soren’s arrest, on Thursday, Champai Soren, a seasoned leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, took the oath of office as Jharkhand’s new chief minister.

Hemant Soren is allegedly involved in a ₹ 600 crore land scam and the laundering of its proceeds, according to the Enforcement Directorate.
