In the Ganjam district of Odisha, a bus carrying 12 members of a wedding party collided head-on with another bus, killing 12 people and injuring seven others, according to authorities.

The bus carrying members of the wedding party collided with another passenger vehicle late Sunday night on the Berhampur-Taptapani road, around 35 kilometres from here, according to Berhampur Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M.

They had just left a wedding celebration in Berhampur and were travelling back to Khandadeuli, which is close to Digapahandi, when the accident occurred.

According to the SP, a team of police officers arrived on the scene quickly, saved the injured, and transported them to hospitals.

“Seven family members and their relatives were among the 12 dead,” a different police official stated.

According to him, the injured are being treated at Digapahandi Hospital and MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

The official stated, “Two of them have been transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack.”

The special relief panel has approved 30,000 for each of the injured people’s medical care in the interim.
