In Faridabad, Haryana, a speeding car dragged a traffic policeman who had asked for the driver’s documents. The incident happened at the Ballabhgarh bus stop area, and social media users have since seen the video go viral.
The incident occurred last night, according to the police, when a driver who was allegedly intoxicated blocked traffic by pulling his car into the middle of the road to pick up passengers. The driver was approached by a traffic sub-inspector who was getting ready to issue a challan and asked for his vehicle documents. This routine check turned into a furious argument very quickly.
Witnesses described how the driver abruptly depressed the accelerator as the sub-inspector leaned in through the driver’s door to look over the papers. Before the car stopped, the officer was hauled a few meters while clinging to the speeding vehicle. The officer was quickly saved from the car by onlookers and other traffic officials.
The driver has been identified by the police, who also promise to prosecute him harshly.
