Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Air India crash site in Ahmedabad on June 13. He reviewed rescue efforts and met with survivors at the civil hospital. Modi, a native of Gujarat, inspected the damaged Meghani Nagar area, where the crash occurred. He also evaluated the extent of destruction to nearby buildings.
Later, the Prime Minister held a high-level meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other officials. Together, they discussed the coordination of relief efforts and support for victims’ families.
Meanwhile, authorities have launched a detailed investigation. Forensic teams are examining the wreckage, and DNA testing is underway to identify the deceased. The government has promised a thorough inquiry. In addition, Air India, now owned by Tata Group, is fully cooperating.

This crash is the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787. As a result, safety concerns have surfaced globally.
In response, Tata Group announced a compensation of ₹1 crore (about $117,000) for each victim’s family. The company is also covering medical expenses for those injured. Moreover, U.S. President Donald Trump has offered assistance.
Many are comparing the crash to India’s past aviation disasters, including the 1996 mid-air collision that killed 349 people.
