A review conference has been convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Cyclone Biparjoy becomes a “extremely severe cyclonic storm” today. On Thursday, the ‘very strong’ cyclonic storm Biparjoy is expected to hit Gujarat.
Between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan, close to Jakhau Port in Gujarat, the cyclone is highly likely to cross by Thursday lunchtime as a very severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained wind speeds of 125–135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.
Meanwhile, cyclone Biparjoy’s pouring winds over the Arabian Sea last night disrupted airline operations in Mumbai. A “extremely severe cyclonic storm” with high gusts and heavy rain was reported in the city as the cyclone’s intensity grew.
