A horrific road accident took place on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning. A double-decker bus collided with a tanker. After the collision, the bus overturned several times on the highway. 18 passengers lost their lives in the tragic accident, while more than 19 passengers were injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. The police have taken the bodies into custody and started investigation.
According to the information, the double-decker bus (UP95 T 4720) was going from Shivgarh in Bihar to the capital Delhi. As soon as the sleeper bus reached the runway in Behta Mujawar police station area on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, it collided with a tanker full of milk.
The collision was so strong that the bus was shattered into pieces. There was a pile of dead bodies at the place where the accident happened. Dead bodies were seen on the road. There was a lot of screaming and shouting at the spot. 18 passengers including a child and women died in the accident. While 20 passengers are seriously injured. Police reached the spot after getting the information and took the injured to the hospital.
Initial investigation has revealed that the bus was moving at a high speed. Eyewitnesses said that the sleeper bus went out of control and collided with the tanker, causing this tragic accident. The accident was so gruesome that people present at the accident site were terrified after seeing it. After the road accident in front of Garha village of Behta Mujawar police station area on Lucknow-Agra Expressway, the injured have been admitted to the hospital, where their treatment is going on. At the same time, the police have identified some of the dead. Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi said that about 57 passengers were travelling in a private bus going to Delhi. 18 people died and 19 others were injured when the bus collided with a milk container at 5:15 am. About 20 people are safe and are being sent to Delhi.
Unnao SP Siddharth Shankar Meena said, “A bus collided with a milk container on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, killing 18 people and injuring 19. The injured are being treated at the district hospital. 5 injured have been referred to Lucknow for better treatment. The deceased and injured are being identified, helpline numbers have also been issued.
The PMO posted on social media that the Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the families of each person killed in the Unnao accident. The injured will be given Rs 50,000. President Draupadi Murmu expressed grief over the road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. She wrote that the news of the death of many people in the accident is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the family members of those who have become victims of such sudden death and wish for the speedy recovery of those injured. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the road accident in Unnao district and expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. The Chief Minister directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and speed up the relief work. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said, “A horrific road accident has taken place on the Agra Lucknow Expressway, 18 people have been killed and 19 injured. The injured are being taken to high-level hospitals, all hospitals in Unnao, Kanpur have been put on alert.
