Over 80 Flights, Several Trains Delayed As Fog Blankets Delhi

Today, there was a fair amount of fog and cold weather in many parts of Delhi-NCR.
10.7 degrees Celsius was the lowest temperature ever recorded in the nation’s capital.

For thick fog in North India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert.

“Deep fog advisory for Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab” North Madhya Pradesh, North Rajasthan, and North Uttar Pradesh: Use caution when traveling by car or other forms of transportation. When driving, use your fog lights. For your travel schedule, get in contact with state transportation, railroads, and airlines,” IMD stated in a post on X.

‘Difficult driving conditions with slower journey times’ were the warning issued by the IMD, along with a diversion in airports, highways, and railway routes.

In the meantime, the fog caused problems for travelers going to and from the nation’s capital. Low visibility continued to cause delays and diversions for trains and flights.

At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, more than 80 flights were reported delayed this morning until 8:30 a.m. because of weather, according to news agency ANI.

A passenger flying from Delhi to Sikkim said, “Our flight has been delayed by two hours due to the fog and weather conditions.”

Drivers of cars and taxis reported that today’s fog was a little bit better than it was yesterday.

“Today’s fog conditions are a little better than yesterday’s. A cab driver said, “The other day, I took two hours to complete a forty-minute route.”

IMD report: “Pantnagar-200; Punjab: Ludhiana-200; Haryana: Bhivani-500; Delhi: Safdarjung-500; UP: Bareilly, Bahraich and Prayagraj-200 each, Aligarh, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Fursatganj, Babatpur & Sultanpur-500 each” was the visibility at 17:30 on Saturday.

The IMD also stated that the visibility was 500 in Assam’s Haflong, 200 in Bihar’s Gaya, 500 in each of Muzaffarpur and Patna, and 500 in Rajasthan’s Ganganagar.

At the Kartavya Path in the nation’s capital, Republic Day parade preparations were under way despite the severe weather that was plaguing the Delhi-NCR area.
