Russian-Ukrainian War: Forty minutes after the first missile struck the Ukrainian-controlled town close to the frontline, the governor said.

Eight persons, including five civilians, were killed on Monday night when Russian missiles twice targeted the centre of Pokrovsk, Ukraine, regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko stated in a statement.

Forty minutes after the first missile struck the town near the frontline that was under Ukraine’s control, the governor said. Witnesses of the strikes told a Reuters cameraman on the site that it killed and injured first responders.

Among the fatalities were two rescuers and a member of the military. Although 31 people were hurt, including a member of the local municipal council, most of them were civilians, according to Ukrainian officials, including nine police officers and one member of the military.

Pokrovsk resident Kateryna, 58, was at home when she heard the first bomb and believed that she had been spared from the attack. Even though she claimed to be okay when someone called to check on her, the location was suddenly attacked a second time.

“Bang, that’s it; that’s all. My eyes were filled with flame. I stumbled and hit the ground and floor. My eyes (hurt) a lot,” Kateryna said in an interview with Reuters, pointing to several scratches on her eyes. Her forehead was wrapped in bandages.

Rescuers searching through the debris was seen in CCTV from the town, along with a car collision and an apartment block with shattered balconies.

Lidia, a 75-year-old homeowner, claimed to have been on the phone when the second explosion occurred. She had retrieved a shattered white curtain that was covered with glass from the floor.

“All of a sudden, stuff flew out and around me. Then, when I was seated on my sofa, the window fell on me.

“I have cuts on my back. I recently returned from the hospital. My thigh and knee both have cuts. She pointed to her head and said, “I had glass here.

The chief of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andriy Yermak, claimed two additional civilians killed by Russian airstrikes in the Kharkiv region’s Kruhliakivka village.

A 45-year-old lady and a 60-year-old man were killed, while five other people were hurt, according to Oleh Synehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region.
